Loss of life is always hard - especially on family members who are left behind. Many people take a while to process the news and may go through a grieving period. If you have recently experienced death of a loved one, then you are probably suffering through emotional pain in response to your loss. Grief is a very common emotion experienced by people of all ages. Every year in America, 4% of children younger than the age of 15 lose a parent through death. With such dramatic ratio before us, it is only logical to find a way to deal with such a tragic loss. Is the death a result of an accident? If so an autopsy might be ordered. There could be a possible claim and the results of death need to be included. Dad sacrificed a lot of his own desires for the good of the family business. He gave up flying to be with mom. He gave up a large chunk of his freedom to provide for his family. He underwent chemical testing during the war so he could get more food stamps and furloughs to see mom. Unfortunately he became quite resentful about this over the years to the point at which he expressed regrets and did not like it when I would do my own thing. He died at 68 years old just two years after he sold the business. So from dad, I learned to be clear about my values and make my behaviours in alignment with them. This is a constant struggle for me. You absolutely MUST be able to focus on your business without interruptions in order to develop a new strategic vision and a plan for getting you there. As Michael Gerber says in his book The E-Myth it's time to work on your business instead of in your business. Decide how the service will proceed. What music, scriptures, poetry, verses, stories will be included? Creating a program will help you to organize this part. Often times priests or pastors will help you create a program or if you want something more personalized there are funeral designers who will take care of all your funeral graphic needs. We didn't think that this storm would be as devastating as it was. We didn't think that 111 homes in Breezy Point, NY would be burned to the ground. We never thought that over 30 people on Staten Island alone would lose their lives to this terrible storm. But we saw grace; nobility and true character emerge that solemn day.
